Founder Jane Bahneman

Jane Bahneman is the founder of Nectar Yoga Studios, premier yoga studios and boutiques outside of Washington DC in Northern Virginia

Birthing Blue

“Dream your dream, point your arrow and go.”, states Jane about building the Nectar Yoga Studio communities. “Believe in something bigger than yourself on this planet. Then surround yourself with people who also want to be creators, but more importantly, people who want to be of service to each other.”
Nectar Yoga started as a dream and grew wings, opening the doors of Blue Nectar Yoga Studio on a very chilly day in February of 2014. Since then, the business has gone through a number of evolutions to become the thriving studios we are today!

Having taught and practiced around the globe, Bahneman developed an eye for what a yoga studio might be like if it dropped the pretense, tended to even the smallest of details, and created a warm, welcoming environment for all. Folks need not worry if they are new or uncertain; seasoned practitioners and rookies are valued and served equally; experienced teachers sit with their students, they do not stand above them. Patrons are greeted by name and cared for, and the tradition and integrity of this ancient practice is maintained in a relaxed and fun environment.

This is where being human is celebrated, and true connection trumps the virtual kind. The difference at here cannot be explained, it must be felt – and you are invited to come experience it for yourself!

Nectar Yoga is a unique, vibrant community. Our tagline “We are yoga without attitude” embodies the studios’ spirit.

The benefits of a regular yoga practice are well-known. So why are so many folks not taking advantage of a practice that requires no more than bare feet and a mat? Perhaps because yoga, and yoga studios, can be seen as exclusive and elusive, which can be daunting.
